Week 1

We got to Laguardia, waited for our luggage, waited in line for a taxi, took an alternate root through queens at 11PM, and finally arrived at 310 East 23rd where we'll be staying for the summer. We got our ID cards, met our roommates and went to bed.

The next morning the three of us and Kaitlin's two roommates went looking for breakfast. I didn't sleep well because of the city noise and was happy to get up. We walked two blocks south and saw a Dunkin' Donuts and had to try it. We walked in and it was packed with COPS!!! I didn't think the stereotype would live up! We ended up going to a bagel shop. We ate, headed back to our building, met in the lobby with our internship group, and walked to the Pelladium (name of the NYU multi-purpose building) and sat through a two hour orientation. After the orientation we walked 7 blocks south to another NYU building to get our NYU ID cards. The three of us waited in line for an hour before heading back to our building, relaxing for 10 minutes, and then hopping a subway north to Kaitlin's place of work. From there we walked to my building on 32nd and 5th, then to Matt's on 30th and 1st (longer than it seems between the two), then back to our building.

Every night at 6:15 (about the time I get back from work), a big group of us go out to dinner at the Pelladium to use 1 of our 7 weekly meal plans. It's a nice social place and we've met new people each evening.

Last night was our first trip uptown. We went to ESPN Zone in times square because it was too rainy/cloudy for Top of the Rock (top of Rockefeller building). It was crowded but I enjoy meeting new people. Before leaving we walked a loop around time sqaure, hopped a subway to 5th Ave (in front of the flat iron building), and walked back for the night.

I'm really enjoying work. The people working there are very well connected. More on this later.

I bought an iron and ironing board to iron my shirt and pants every morning. I enjoy ironing. I plan on buying more dress shirts and another pair of pants (from Hugo Boss I think ;) ). Sunday's the day I'd like to run in central park. Hopefully the weather will agree.

That's all for now but I'll be back several times a week :)

Love you all,
Shane
